They're like... Because I'd evolved so much myself.
Yeah.
And so I was adding all of my own flavor of what I thought country was currently in that moment.
They're like, this is really not very country.
It's not country enough.
I'm thinking, you know, I didn't balk too much at it because I was the new kid in town and I was...
I know I had to pay some dues there in Nashville.
So I didn't record my first songs on the very first album, but that was the only time that that would happen.
And then I would be recording all my own music and it would be country my way.
When I first got to Nashville, because I was already in my late 20s, I was already experienced enough to know that it wasn't going to be smart to...
you know, stomp my feet and say, no, we're going to do it my way, you know.

I got my record deal based on the songwriting from my demos.
I showcased live, but they wanted, there's a Nashville way.
So they're like, yeah, okay, you're talented.
We're signing you.
We like you, but we want to put our stamp on you.
And the Nashville stamp is the songs are curated in our little writing village with our writers and our musicians, our studios, our sound, and our look.
It's a brand almost in a sense.
And so I said, okay, well, let's try it your way.
