How envious she felt and she didn't want to feel that way, like, especially around the holiday, she wanted to be able to afford all the gifts for the nieces and nephews and meet her sisters where she was at, but she couldn't do that without going into massive debt.
And so it was really about like reprogramming.
Well,
How does she want to show up around money?
Does she need to do the same thing to have the impact with the nieces and nephews?
Or could she create something different?
But no one had really asked her that question before and allowed her the space to create her own version of what this looked like.
Absolutely.
And I mean, that was a hard lesson that I learned was that you didn't need to give someone the most expensive, best gift.
I remember in college when I got my first credit card, because they were giving them away like candy, right?
I was dating somebody at the time and it was his birthday and I thought,
Oh, I'm going to go to the mall and get him like the best watch ever because he was really into watches.
And I racked up the entire, you know, I used the entire available credit on that credit card to give somebody else.
You know, I dated for like a couple of months, this incredible gift.
And, you know, me now looks back and like, oh, girl.
Give yourself the watch if you're going to do it, right?
But yeah, these things are tricky to figure out.
Where do these beliefs come from?
And I think the important thing is to think about, are they mine?
Do they actually belong to me or do they belong to someone else?
