I mean, it doesn't make me happy to write it, but I think somebody needs to say it.
Well, for one thing, I just felt like incapable, like literally physically incapable of watching the news the day after the election.
And I'm hearing that from so many people.
I'm seeing it on social.
I'm hearing it from other people.
And it's what I opened the piece with, which is I've been unable to watch CNN or MSNBC.
I'm not a Fox News watcher because I don't watch propaganda if I can help it.
but um at the end of the day i really need cable news in particular to be quiet because they have been shoveling a particular point of view without relentlessly telling us as voters i speak now not as a member of the media covering the election because i didn't cover the election except from the media standpoint but as a voter who's looking for information
They did not see this coming.
You do not get another at bat when you're playing with our democracy.
This is about, for me,
the future of our country.
And while lots of people I'm seeing in their postmortems saying, well, the country is racist and misogynist and that we just have to deal with that.
We all have to live here for God's sake.
And the media has a very crucial role.
What's the role?
It's the most important role in a democracy, which is holding power to account
and informing the electorate.
