Well, I think right now more than 90% of the undergraduate students
use this for their assignments, maybe as a help or maybe as a cheating tool.
Though we cannot really differentiate right now how they are using it, but we know that they are using it.
Yes, I think we as an institution, as well as a professor, I'm worried about students potentially cheating and doing my assignments.
But I'm also aware that if they cheat the way in my class, maybe the job market will penalize them as well.
So there is also a defense mechanism in the job market.
But even so, but I want my student to learn in my class and I want them to help learn.
But at the same time, students are using these type of tools not just to cheat.
They're also using this to learn complex ideas, which is also great.
So there is no way of backing down from using AI.
The idea is how can we use this such that we can learn more and maybe teach better as well.
So I think first we have to understand why students are using it.
Most of my students, they are using it not just to cheat.
Some might cheat.
These are like 1%, 2% of the cohort.
But most of the students are trying to use this to learn.
The problem is because they are not domain expert,
They get overwhelmed by the information, which they need to go and again validate before they can assess whether they learn or not.
Therefore, we professors are here to validate their learning and authenticate their learning.
But at the same time, we have a better way to teach.
