Rolled it out on the floor, cut out two giant figure eights, and began sewing it together.

I had my mom's sewing machine.

My neighbor helped me finish that, put a zipper in it.

And I went to put beanbag beads in it from Michael's.

Couldn't possibly have bought enough.

So I started looking around for squishy stuff and found packing peanuts, old blankets, but my parents' camping mattresses, like a yellow piece of foam with a bungee cord wrapped around those.

Yeah, cut those up in my parents' basement on a paper cutter, you know, like the kind of thing you chop paper with.

And three weeks, three weeks of chopping stuff up and putting it in, finally had this thing where it was squishy and giant.

It would fill the back of a truck.

And everywhere we took it, everybody wants one.

And I put it away for a few years to go serve a mission for my church, came back home, started university again at the University of Utah.

And my friends were going to the drive-in movies.

And it's like, oh my gosh, I have this thing.

So I pulled it out again.

Everyone wants one.

That's when it became my side hustle through college.

Three years of making them by hand for friends, basically.

Finally, though, having a foam shredder that we found in the back of this old furniture factory that let us use it because they thought we were funny.

Opened a store in 2001 in a mall, hoping people wouldn't laugh at us.

That worked.
