And even now I kind of ping pong between people being like, cause I get questioned a lot, especially with my Mustangs.
Like, why aren't you doing more with them?
Why aren't you riding them more?
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
And it's like,
most of the people who are asking that like they either don't own their own horses which is totally fine not a judgment but if they do they a lot of people have their horses on full care and their their set of 24 hours is different from mine like like everyone's is um but that said it's like it's this weird thing where it's like my mustangs are really friendly with people now i can do their feet at liberty they can
do all their basic things and it's like why do I need to be riding them and like why do I also need to have both of them having perpetual progress in that realm of riding that is visible to other people and documenting it in order to be valid as a trainer and like this is something too that has made me really lose faith in the horse world because
It's not even just having progress because it's like you can have these massive milestones and cool things that you've done that are impressive and show your talent as a trainer.
But if you're not consistently replicating that repeatedly over years, people try to shrug off and write off the other things that you did.
suddenly it doesn't matter anymore because you don't have anything that's recently going on and the interesting thing with that is like it doesn't even matter to people like it's like my dad died this year they don't care they're like why aren't you riding and training your horses it's like are you fucking kidding me like are you and like it
it's such a late, like the horse world is so toxic in so many ways where it teaches us to deny like our physical health, our mental health, our emotional health and safety, our identity.
And there's all of these pressures to conform and ignore things and harm your mental health.
And, um,
Especially as an ADHD person who grew up in this industry It's like it destroyed my capacity to properly emotionally regulate and I was effectively primed to be like honestly an abusive person to horses because I was taught like if a horse is Misbehaving they're doing it to defy you and you need to get after them and then when you get into that headspace where you don't have any other solutions other than hitting your horse and you feel scared and frustrated and
and that's your only solution, then that's your go-to.
So then when you're having a bad day, you're even more likely to hate your horses.
undoing that thought process and healing is so hard.
And like, even now, like that, that's also partly why I've stepped back from doing as much with my horses, because I can feel that I'm so overwhelmed and that I'm having a hard time where it's like, they'll do something and I'm, I get more frustrated with it.
And I'm like, I don't want to revert back to the person that I was.
So it's a better decision to just not work with them.
