Another provision that's going to require state agencies to report to everybody who's getting benefits to the Secretary of State's office.

The proof of citizenship requirement that Chris Kobach previously had was litigated and struck down in a high-profile lawsuit in 2018.

That one required you to provide a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship to register to vote.

This is doing the same thing, but starting at the driver's license level.

When you show your driver's license at the polls, if you're not a citizen, you still can't vote.

But because there's a documentary proof, you might be a citizen and still be barred because you don't have the paperwork or whatever easy access to a birth certificate.

Under the previous law, it blocked 35,000 lawful voters from actually participating in democracy.

Kobach now, as Attorney General, has actually charged a couple of people with voting without being a citizen.

And they like to say, as Pat Proctor likes to say, and Chris Kobach likes to say, one illegal vote discounts a lawful vote.

But they ignore the fact that, again, these measures, not only would they not stop that illegal vote, but they would discount tens of thousands of citizens from voting.

Yeah, you know, this was legislation that was introduced on the opening day of the session.

A hearing was held less than 24 hours later.

And then a week later, without putting it in the calendar, the committee decided to take action on that bill.

Initially, it was just going to ban changing your gender marker on driver's licenses.

When they held this unannounced action on the bill, they inserted a second bill.
