so this uh you know the governor vetoed it the legislature swiftly overrode the veto and it became law in late march right away we saw a legal challenge to this from a couple of trans men and warrants the judge handling that however declined to immediately block the law saying he didn't have enough evidence to base a decision on
whether these constitutional rights were being violated just yet, but also made some curious remarks about how Kansans are such nice people, it probably won't be a problem anyway.
In the meantime, we've seen the leader now of a national organization come into the State House to test the enforcement of the law, to try to get arrested, and discovered that actually you can violate the law very flagrantly
telling people you're going to violate the law in the most prominent state building and nobody will do anything about it, at least as of this recording.
note, by the way, that at least 275 Kansans' driver's licenses were immediately invalidated by this law, which caught them by surprise.
The trans activists say that at least one of these individuals who had their driver's license invalidated had merely changed their name, but had not actually changed their gender marker, and it was invalidated anyway.
Yeah, you know, this had happened after the veto override on the trans bill as well.

They immediately jumped up in the House on this last day of the session to say, you know, we demand an investigation by the House Speaker to find out who's doing this and put a stop to it.
But as we found out a short time later, I received a video of the culprit, and it was Senate President Ty Masterson, who also, by the way, seemed to struggle with the actual ringing of the bell as he walked off.
