And even now, I'll sometimes be like, oh, it's better to save that money than to spend it.
I just wish I hadn't been so hard on myself.
And everyone says that.
They're always like, it always works out.
Just enjoy the journey.
And I kind of wish I did.
But when I look back at all of it, you know, you might be listening and going, Sim, would you recommend like certain steps or ways of us to like figure out what fire looks like or how we can reach it?
I would honestly say no.
Figure out your number and work backwards.
Like what is your idealistic lifestyle?
And don't assume that you're never going to work.
Assume that maybe you work on things you are passionate about and that you're not aiming to become completely jobless, but you're aiming to become work optional.
So what would that look like?
What kind of life would that look like where maybe you're just working part-time or you're working the job?
My friends and I like to call it our communist jobs.
Like what job would you do if we lived in a communist society and everyone's salary was the same?
Mine would probably be being an art teacher.
But let's say you were like, okay, well, if I was an art teacher for like private art classes that I had, maybe I'm only working three days a week.
What do I need to earn to supplement that income so that I can take those two days off?
And maybe that's $20,000 a year.
