the US weaponizing dollar swap lines between different countries into in order to achieve their economic and political uh aims, to see why just outsourcing your payment system to an underlying dollar-based system um isn't strategically very sensible um if you can't

trust the governing counterparty of that dollar based system.

Now I'm not saying we can't, but I'm saying there's probably more evidence in the last six months that that is an open question than it's been really in the last sixty years.

I I think that's a very, very fair uh observation.

A less fair observation from BIS is the criticism that's made to all crypto assets, I think, around you know i it them being an enabler of illicit activity.

I mean, you know, uh cash has done that for

uh well centuries.

Um and so I I I get why digital cash controlled by a central counterparty is seen as um more attractive because you have an audit trail.

Um but I think there has been existential problems with methods of payment uh enabling illicit activity for for a long, long time.
