So basically are you a good corporate citizen, both in environment terms, are you leaving the world a better place than you found it?
And are you governed in a way which means that I don't know, it could be things like forced labour in the supply chain, or it could be excessive pay for executives.
And all companies weren't immune from
From that.
So therefore there was a push.
And also, a lot of people thought th if if anyone's going to move the needle on this environmental stuff and emissions, it's the old companies themselves.
They make tons of money and they've got the technology to try and reduce the emissions from their own the way they get the stuff out of the ground, and they've got the cash to finance a renewable transition.
But then the ESG thing
Rather sort of backed off a bit, not least because Donald Trump took the White House and found all this stuff a little bit woke.
And investors started saying, How much money are we spending on this stuff?
Maybe we should stick to our knitting.
If you like, the pendulum went back the other way with phrases like drill, baby drill, and uh investors said, Listen, you're an oil and gas company, stop trying to save the world.
We are your shareholders, we want you to make a profit.
I I knew that they were making I thought he meant it.
I understood the reasons they were trying to do it because as as I say there was this big ESG wave from investors saying get greener, get greener and they were trying to do that.
And they were trying to say, listen, we can be a good corporate citizen and help the world move towards a greener future.
