Under the criminal law, this isn't necessary.
Under criminal law, destroying any of the same things they're seeking to protect here, that's called obstruction of justice.
Tampering with evidence, any of those things.
So I found this to be a really interesting strategy that actually made me really nervous.
Because I feel like basically by doing that, that's the end of anyone voluntarily talking to the police.
