They, you know, increase the standard of life because the commute is quicker and easier.
You're not getting in your car, which is better for the climate.
So there's loads of good reasons to use them.
And an outright ban, it kind of just shows the fact that we're talking about an outright ban, which is unenforceable.
It shows that we've let the scale of the problem get so large and significant.
Well, if you look at what happens elsewhere, this is not an Irish-only problem.
If you look at what's happening in England, the PA Press Association had an investigation in the last few weeks about looking at what retailers are still selling e-scooters for commuter use, that they're advertising them for commuter use, even though they're banned on public paths and public roads.
What they have there is
government scheme so you can use a scooter but you have to use the one that you can rent because obviously you can put limits on the speed it goes and you can enforce any rules and regulations around the transport network better but we we don't have that in place yet so you're actually just punishing people who
want to use scooters.
And I think the weather, the transport network and our infrastructure is ready for them is a different story.
That's the story that we talk about, like why the roads are so dangerous.
Like I walk around Dublin city for an hour and a half every day and everyone blames each other, but nobody's behavior is good.
If you do a 90 minute walk around Dublin, you will see bad behaviour by every type of commuter on the road.
The drivers, it's the cyclists, it's the scooters, it's the pedestrians, pedestrians on their phones, walking around not paying attention.
It's every cohort.
There does have to be other solutions as well, though.
Say the example Louise just gave there of, you know, someone on a scooter going that quickly.
Pursuit there is not the answer.
That's creating more danger.
