I got schooling.
You know, I had friends.
And who were the other children in the household?
Your sister?
There was Hilton, Bev...
Seymour, Kay, who's four years older than me.
She came to Britain when I was little.
So she arrived and she was... So I was one and she was four.
Well, they weren't fighting all the time.
And yes, there were moments when they were happy.
But there were quite a few moments when there was sadness going on.
And you kind of knew.
I think it was just a general thing of trying to recover from that, you know.
And adults are very resourceful.
You can hold a grudge or you can go...
You know, if you're working class and you're in the Midlands and you're people of colour and this is your life, it was very much a thing of, this is my life now.
We're not going to get divorced.
We're going to stay together and we're going to raise these kids.
And that's what they did.
And I respect that.
