So he would do that.
And so we saw him as this grumpy man, but now I kind of knew why.
Did your attitude to him change after this moment?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I respected him a lot.
Oh, you respected him more, not less?
He didn't pretend.
He was my dad.
You just accept.
I have to accept it because, you know, when you're a kid, right?
Have you seen those documentaries of kids during the war?
They're playing on bomb sites and stuff.
There's stuff going on in their lives which they don't... They know that house that used to be there isn't there anymore, and then they go and play on it.
It was kind of like that.
I was this kid who had had this bombshell dropped in my life, but I played amongst the ruins thinking it's going to work out in the end.
And it did.
I got fed three times a day.
I closed.
