But on the park, all bets were off because I was Len and I could do voices.
Here's a funny story.
I could do voices.
Thank you very much.
All of these voices, eh, who loves you, baby?
All the millennials, what the hell is he doing now?
That was Dave Allen, Tommy Cooper, Max Bygraves and Kojak.
I could do all these impressions and my friends encouraged me.
Different to school, on the park, different.
And then I got up one night at the Queen Mary Ballroom because this is where you could get up and do jokes or you could dance or you could sing, whatever.
And I used to do this thing called Wobbly Elvis, which meant you had to lip sync to Jailhouse Rock.
So you weren't really singing.
You were just wobbling your legs and going, one through a party in the county jail.
And I could sing it and I knew all the words and I could do the movements like Elvis.
And I got a standing ovation from my peers saying,
Now, my peers at the Queen Mary Ballroom were all kids my age.
This was an over-21 disco and everybody was underage.
When you walked in, all your classmates were at the bar doing their homework.
So this is the first time my peers from school had seen me do what I was doing over the park.
And I think they told the teachers at school, Lenny Henry does this thing.
