with the intention that that will become your retirement fund, that will support your future, that in a sense is your reward for all of the risk that you're taking now.

These proposed tax changes change the risk-reward balance, which has been the underlying concern here.

Obviously, the concessions and the changes to the thresholds that we've seen today alleviate that somewhat for small businesses with a turnover under $10 million.

I would argue that we really do need a strong focus on what we can do to drive small business productivity.

We've seen productivity and business productivity flatlining in Australia for quite some time, and we need to be focused on what we can do to get that back on track.

I would suggest starting in two particular spaces, both of which we've already talked about, Sean.

I think we need to have a comprehensive look at the tax system, not a piecemeal look, but a look at the whole tax system comprehensively,

to see what we can do to really drive business growth and small business productivity.

At the same time, we really do need a very continued and concerted focus across all levels of government, so federal, state and territory and local government about reducing the regulatory burden, making sure it truly is fit for purpose and truly considers the burden that it places on small business.

I think it's a big ask, but I think it has to be done.

I think the payoff justifies it.

This is what we need to do to be driving GDP growth.
