Came out in the US was the initial jobless claims. voice-verified
They fell by 11,000 to 207,000 versus a consensus expectation of a 2013 read. voice-verified
So that was a little bit better than expected as well. voice-verified
And that was the biggest one-week fall in jobless claims since since February. voice-verified
So at face value, that that report s suggests that the labor market has improved. voice-verified
um and layoffs remain at at low levels. voice-verified
But we know that there is that sort of low hiring, um, low firing um dynamic going on in the US. voice-verified
And you know, maybe that does, you know, reflect a little bit of what was what you said came out of the beige book. voice-verified
And I note that Pantheon has noted that um the indeed measure of job postings has dropped by two percent since February. voice-verified
And while they're saying voice-verified

So I guess sort of less positive on the labor market there and maybe suggestive that you might see the unemployment rate sort of ticking higher in the months ahead. voice-verified
And then also I guess less positive out of the US data was the industrial production report, which fell by point five percent in March versus an expectation of a a small point one percent um rise. voice-verified
Yes, you're you're correct, Phil. voice-verified
So, you know, on on a headline print that G D P number, the annual annual rate, you know, did come in above expectations, rising to voice-verified
or coming out at five percent versus um expectations of a poor four point eight percent rise. voice-verified
Um and yeah, that that there was that continued mix of growth was supported by a strong manufacturing sector and and exports, um while you continue continue to see the consumer in China remaining soften, as you said, with that sort of weaker print from the retail sales and that coming coming in below expectations. voice-verified
Yeah, so you know, a a as you said, uh uh, you know, stronger that m it's sort of quite a bit higher than expected that GDP print for February. voice-verified
