But the way I would p couch it more
So is they're they're not reacting to the the macroeconomic backdrop.
So you know the the data out of the US is generally coming in on the stronger side of expectations.
You know, as we've said, the the US labor market um isn't isn't weakening dramatically.
Um, you know, US inflation still remains sticky, um, yet the market's still pricing in those remains.
risks of Fed Fed rate cuts and you've got US ten year bond yields still sort of in that lower end of their, you know, trading range that we've seen over the last couple of months at around four four to four four thirty.
So so I think that's where you're you're you're seeing it, that that they're not really
um looking at the macro backdrop, they're more sort of looking at what's going on geopl geopolitically and wanting to to sit on you know sit on sit on the sidelines.
Yeah, so that that is is a report that has also hit hit the news headlines overnight.
Um sort of what people are looking at is the full year deficit, which has come in at around nine hundred and one one billion US dollars, which is um the largest since nineteen sixty.
So, you know, um despite all the the efforts with the tariffs, um the trade deficit continues to wide.
And so in the month of December, yeah, it came in at 70.3 billion, which is up from 53 billion in November.
Looking at the the split, there was a 3.6% rise in the value of imports.
So this is including your computer accessories and cars, and 1.7 decline in exports of goods and services.
And what really drove that big decline in the export side was the um fewer shipments of of gold.
So I think ex gold exports might have been up around one one percent.
Um so in response to this uh in in response to this trade report, you have seen economists revising down their Q four GDP forecast.
So Q four GDP is out tonight in the US.
So I think that I'm reading sort of the latest trade report suggests that net trade could contribute only 0.1 percentage points to Q4 GDP.
So downward revisions are being done.
