Because when I lived in this cabin in the woods in Oregon, it was pretty much gray skies all the time, which I love. I've always been obsessed with thunderstorms and tornadoes and just gloomy weather. And so gray came first. I was like, I love the color gray. I just love the lack of color that it represents. And the unknown... Because at the time I was also in a very unknown place in my life.

And then, yeah, Skylar came from just the fact that I loved the gloomy weather and it all kind of, yeah, being engulfed in that mood all the every day in Oregon while I was going through this kind of reawakening. Yeah, it just felt like the right name, Skylar Grey.

So this gray became like kind of like a religion for me, like pushing myself into the gray. And then, yeah, Skylar came from just the fact that I loved the gloomy weather and it all kind of, yeah, being engulfed in that mood all the every day in Oregon while I was going through this kind of reawakening.
