Carrie, the summer farmers market is almost the hardest time of year to shop at the farmer's market, I think counterintuitively, because there's so much to choose from.

So we're sharing our top farmers market picks, the things we're always buying, we're always making sure end up in our wagon, as in your case, or in my many bags and boxes.

It's not a great system at all, but it is great at keeping my tomatoes and my berries and my delicate produce from getting smushed.

But let's start with I think everyone's favorite thing at the farmers market, at least it certainly is mine, which is tomatoes.

I have been really on a Southeast Asian flavor kick.

It's been something I've been cooking more and more of.

And there's this recipe for Southeast Asian tomato salad.

It was written by Melissa Clark for The Splendid Table.

I love what she says at the beginning, which is this is a departure from my usual tomato salad, which is composed of little more than carved up tomatoes, torn basil, salt, and olive oil.

Eat this simple salad almost every night in tomato season since it takes about 20 seconds to assemble and has a juicy purity of tomato flavor that I can't seem to get enough of this time of year.
