It was a really big thing in my head.
I didn't like it at all.
I felt really...
uncomfortable about it.
And Susie's seven years younger than me.
Her husband's seven years younger than her.
You know, everyone was so much younger than me.
And the beauty of that race was that for the first time in probably as long as I'd been alive, I had nothing.
I had like a backpack of possessions.
And it was so simple.
And I couldn't use my phone because I had nothing to charge it with.
And I looked at the stars every night in the Sahara and it was just about getting from A to B and getting enough food in yourself that you didn't... I lost a stone in weight in a week because I couldn't carry enough calories.
But it was a wonderful experience for that, the simplicity of it.
It really changed me.
Well, it made me believe...
It gave me strength.
It made me realize that my body is much, much stronger than my mind lets me believe.
And I think a lot of people do that.
I think so many of us, particularly in our 40s and 50s, say it's much easier to say, oh, I can't.
It's a shame.
