We're like, that's bad.

You're like, that's a better state of the world.

So we're pretty good at thinking about states of the world and thinking about how much we value them.

What's much more challenging is figuring out our intrinsic values.

Because almost everything that we value, we value because it gets us other things, not because it's an intrinsic value.

So you think about you might value having a car, but you value having a car because it gives you freedom to go places you want.

Maybe it gives you status if it's a really cool car, whatever it is.

But you don't value the car for its own sake.
