It was a tough year.
It was the sunny fire year.
So look, there was a lot of emotions within the team and it was hard going at the time.
But if I look back at that year for me, look, I have no regrets around it.
Oh, it's huge.
And I take my hat off to every coach that's been a part of, since my time at the Warriors, since Sonny's past.
In particular, the coach now, Webby, what he's trying to instill into the young guys, the whole club around what Sonny Fire was about.
Weeby didn't know Sonny, but he knows these are special things that we need to have a good memory of him.
He always gets a few of the old boys back.
Weeby's got a really good relationship with Russell Packer and Ben Martellino with their time at the Tigers and Weeby's time at the Tigers, and those two were Sonny's best mates.
We've been fortunate enough for Russell to come back and Ben to come back and share stories about Sonny.
for the players now to understand what he was about because you know my memory of sunny like i i remember sunny before i left to go to france like as a kid coming into the gym he was like a 15 16 year old and he could lift more weights than any of the players he was that strong and powerful and then for a kid who just had a had a smile on his face you know and then i went away and
to France when I came back, and he's in the team now.
And I thought, wow, here's a kid that's really developed and got so many attributes of such a special person, the way he carried himself, the way he played the game.
And that's why we celebrate Sonny, because of what he actually did for the club.
You know, he was certainly going to be a huge part of this club going forward.
And it was such a sad thing that, you know, what happened?
Yeah, I mean, for me, I didn't have the relationship that some of the other players had, in particular the young ones, and also Ruben and Pricey.
Well, Ruben had finished, but Pricey had a really good bond with Sonny, so I was able to sit back and reflect and see what they were going through, and it was hard.
