Um so he can transition the puck really well, he can make plays, um and his penalty killing was excellent this year.
And then when you add to that the ability to work on your mobility and now that's not something that's holding him back anymore, then you got a real player.

We you know we were going through for uh several weeks we were working on that and trying to find the right match for
uh for Darnell and also that would be a good fit for us.
Um and when you go through that process and there's often times when it it didn't look like there was a pathway forward for us to be able to do this.
But I think getting the deal done to not retain any of the salary was very crucial for us.
Uh and that's where San Jose came in.
Um, you know, they have a different salary cap structure than us.
They're a team that's building and they don't have as many commitments as a lot of other teams do, so it lined up well and then the return was also something that was really appealing to us.
Um to get a couple of defensemen back that uh we think highly of.
Yeah, there's not just one way to do it.
I think the most tried and true way to build teams is through the draft and there's nothing wrong with that approach.
But it's not the only approach.
So I think f we're taking a different look at it because we've got a a team that we think is on the verge of of greatness here, but um so we're we're really looking for the here and now and you have to sacrifice uh the future sometimes.
But that doesn't mean you just give up on the future.
You have to do it a different
Different way and you have to find free agents, have to find undervalued players, maybe players that don't get as much exposure.
Uh so that's where we're investing our resources that way, um heavily in analytics to try to you know screen players and find maybe some overlooked aspects of players.
