Oh, we're putting up a cell tower.
No notice, no knowledge of this happening.
And once a cell tower is slated to be put into your community, it is very hard to stop it.
So the cell tower went live.
They didn't know the exact date, but some of the residents started to feel sick.
Things like nausea, dizziness, brain fog, headaches, insomnia.
So the woman, one of the women of a child that was really being impacted, called to find out the date that the cell tower was turned on, and it completely correlated with her daughter's symptoms.
So what happened at that point was the local board of health in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, sided with the residents in Pittsfield, saying that there was correlation between the symptoms and the cell tower.
The problem is that the Telecom Act of 1996 eliminated the ability for local communities to cite
any impacts from health or environmental concerns as a reason not to put a tower.
And the federal preemption that it created actually just null and voided the fact that the local board of health sided with Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
This is still an ongoing thing.
Years later, you're seeing cancer rates increase on that block, people having clusters of cancer.
You're seeing that there was a school in California, same thing.
And the sad part is that these people are forced to evacuate their homes.
And when you live near a cell tower, not only in the health impacts a problem, but your property values plummet.
They're seeing up to 20% when you have a cell tower near you that you're seeing those residential rates really decline because nobody wants to live next to a cell tower.
Just like when I was looking for my home in New Jersey, whenever I saw those giant electrical lines above ground, I avoided them.
Something in me just said, this is not a good thing.
And the sad part is that we're living in a world where if we don't take control very quickly, the dark reality that we're living into is you could wake up at any morning and there could be a cell tower, small cell or large, sitting right outside of your window in your child's school on a playground.
