And uh the private insurers are concerned about the this down this ten uh downgrading trend which is uh getting more, more people are uh taking out these exclusion and deductible products, more people are using their private insurance to go to a public hospital, and in some cases they're bypassing the ordinary waiting list in the public hospital and getting preferential access uh to the public hospital. voice-verified

Uh uh first of all, and most importantly I think is transparency. voice-verified

We patients should know before they even walk into the waiting room what their what the expectations are. voice-verified

And and how how the surgeon or the medical specialist, how their fees relate to every other medical specialist in the you know, the immediate surrounds and ten to ten kilometer surrounds. voice-verified

And the government has the power to do that right now. voice-verified

It's it collects all that information when you put in your Medicare client. voice-verified

for Medicare rebate, it says how much did the doctor charge. voice-verified

So it's easy for us to for the government to publish that information. voice-verified

I think that's the way to start. voice-verified

But it's not entirely voice-verified

That there's all sorts of stratagens that are being used to get around uh these fees and uh the booking fee example is one of them. voice-verified

And I think we need to be uh forcing those out into the open as well. voice-verified

Well, y you can uh well first of all they're not uh rebatable. voice-verified

But I think if you start to actually publish what fees generally are, uh pa patients will say, well hang on, why do I have to pay a booking fee for this surgeon when I can go to another surgeon uh who's charging the same consultation fee? voice-verified

Yeah, it it's certainly uh feasible. voice-verified

I mean uh just today I think the president of the College of GPs said that anybody who charges above the AMA fee, which is way above the the MBS fee, the Medicare schedule fee, uh should not get a rebate at all. voice-verified

And so I think it it certainly is something that we should consider in in addition to transparency. voice-verified
