Well, again, uh th the the the private health insurers uh have to be given more power to deal with things that uh voice-verified

They they're they're shackled with at the moment. voice-verified

And so for example, unnecessary procedures, questionable care, uh all these arthr knee arthroscopies that are being done for with no evidence base, uh uh the the health insurers still have to pay for those. voice-verified

And what they need to have more power to say, well hang on, if we're under this squeeze, if we want to keep our prices down, we have to be able to question sometimes the care voice-verified

You know, almost every patient who has a a hip replacement, not quite true, but very high proportion of people in the private sector with a hip replacement end up uh getting rehab. voice-verified

way more than people in the public sector and yet the outcomes are the same. voice-verified

So again we need to have much more scrutiny and and to allow the health insurers to manage their own business. voice-verified

Does that allow does that need legislation? voice-verified

At the moment they have to pay uh for all the necessary care, um but so you'd need to actually change legislation to do that. voice-verified

Well, y the AMA can't have it both ways. voice-verified

I mean i the AMA is strongly supportive of the private sector, strongly supportive of private hospitals and has in the past been strongly supportive of private health insurance. voice-verified

But what we see is people beginning to drop their levels of private health insurance. voice-verified

So if the AMA want to make sure private health insurance is viable, they may have to say, Well, this means the rogue doctors who are doing the wrong thing need to be pulled into line. voice-verified
