There are hammer elements because obviously it was a,
generic horror spoof.
And it would have been a very different film because the casting changed quite a bit.
The Harry H. Corbett part was obviously going to be played by Sid James, who couldn't make it.
But more interestingly and bizarrely, the Fenella Fielding part was offered to Deborah Carr.
Which strikes me as bizarre because I can't believe that someone, a proper bona fide Hollywood star like Deborah Carr would agree to be in a carry on film.
But also the Kenneth Williams part was offered to Vincent Price, who asked for more money and he turned it down.
It would have been a very, very different film.
Well, it is.
I mean, what happens to Joan Sims in it, if you actually think about it, is pretty awful.
She's turned into a mannequin who ends up in the house of her husband and his mistress now, played by Fenella Fielding.

Terrible.
And also the Bernard Breslau character is Lurch, really.
And Fenella Fielding is Morticia Adams.
Far more.
I mean, there were no Hammer films that had those kind of characters.
So I assume that the Adams family has
a huge influence on it.
The Old Dark House is rather strange.
