I think the most important thing is that sort of living within your means psychologically.

Yes, that is 100% true.
And I've certainly seen people in this room who've lived that and tried to figure out then.
And then a whole lot of things happen where having an affair or relationship to try and build a life
I said to a patient not that long ago that I thought her husband, who was very wealthy, her boyfriend, who adored her, she would never leave her because she had a whole wealthy existence with her husband, and me, listening to all of her problems and understanding that the three of us added up to a pretty good husband.
If you kind of draw a line and add it up, the three of us kind of glued together.
We were sort of a pretty good husband.
I sort of thought that's sort of what was going on, is that she'd outsourced a couple of the jobs.
And I don't judge people.
Well, something there's usually, I mean, it's interesting because I think the first thing you'll think about with me too is somebody's not getting something they want in the marriage.
They needed something in the marriage they weren't getting.
And generally, as you can tell, there's a story in my book about
two analysts where one woman analyst goes off with another woman analyst's husband.
And some readers have said, you should have been harsher on this woman for doing that.
And first of all, I think we don't know what's going on, but clearly somebody's not living the life that they want and not having something.
I think that's an important part of it.
And I don't think, sometimes like the example of the woman with the boyfriend and the aunt, she's actually piecing this together to stay in the marriage.
The affair and the therapy, it all's kind of cobbled together to help her continue.
She has children that she loves.
