And we just found some, I thought some really interesting stuff.

I don't know if

every fan is going to really care about this.

But if you like to get into the nitty-gritty of baseball, then you'll be interested, I think, to know that pretty much every single trade starts between two teams.

It is pretty fruitless, I guess, because if you try to... Ben Charrington, former Jays front office member who's now with the Pirates, said the ones that you dream up on the whiteboard are like, ooh, if we do this, and then send them to that team, and then you pitch it to the teams, it's almost never going to go anywhere.

The conditions that most commonly come about that are right for a three-team trade are you're trying to get to the finish line with a team.

It's close but not quite there.

And you say, well, if we brought in this third team who's been asking about a starting pitcher, then we might be able to make the triangle happen.

So that's typically what you're going to see, which is quite different from other sports where –

Three-team trades are mostly done in NBA and NHL to just satisfy sort of the salary cap side of things.

The third team is rarely kicking in anything useful beyond salary cap space, in which case they're just going to get like a draft pick for their troubles.

But in baseball, it oftentimes is like, you know, meaningfully beneficial to all three sides.

Yeah, I would say that you can almost kind of guess the ones that will like it, right?

Like if Neander, yeah, he likes it a lot.

Matt Arnold of the Brewers, yeah, he likes them.

The Cleveland, it's almost like driven in a way by these smaller market teams that need to get creative in order to be great, right?

They're not gonna sign an Otani, they're not gonna sign the best free agents out there.

And so they need to be extracting maximum value from every single trade.

So rather than say,

Yeah, that's good enough for our two-team trade.
