you are not in the labour force, even though you might be of working age population, but because of your personal circumstances, your employment status is not counted.
Whereas if you answer that question, no, I didn't work, but yes, I am looking for work,
I've applied for a million jobs and I haven't got any, you are counted as unemployed.
And so that's where the change in the unemployment rate is so important because it does sort of discount people who are in studying and education, these sorts of things, which is absolutely fine, or people who might have won Powerball last week and they've left the labor force and they're not working, or people who are home duties.
And of course, you know, nowadays with the
childcare and all these other things.
A lot of people do take time out for that particular month, let alone several months, to look after little babies and young kids and these sorts of things.
Yes, is the short answer.

This is the funny thing, and it's a very important issue to just note.
If you worked at home and you were the home duties person where you cooked and cleaned and looked after the kids, but you do it for the love of your family, not for any money, that is not counted as employed.
If you work for money, one hour is
And for whatever that occupation was, you are counted as having been employed in that month because it's monthly data.
But last week, they sort of, of course, have to sort of work out how they narrow down the breadth of the survey.
So if you worked one hour, you're counted as employed.
