We do nothing.
And I think that that's probably going to be the sort of scenario that –
the bank will look at.
Because inflation is still too high here.
As we kick off the financial year, inflation is too high.
So the near-term rate cut is just about impossible to see, barring some almighty negative shock.
So we really need to see not just a few months or a quarter or two of inflation back on target and the unemployment rate continuing to edge up.
We need to see the
genuine confirmation that inflation is going to be tracking at two and a half percent yeah maybe a smidge less before that actually bite the bullet so yeah rates on hold for the for the whole financial year yeah that's that's that's certainly probably the central forecast with uh the hike some possibility the cut slightly greater possibility as we get into calendar year 2027 anyway
Well, it's part of the enjoyment of economics.
If you're not looking at the hard data on the economy, on housing and GDP and inflation, financial markets are, of course, the lifeblood of what this is all about.
And on the stock market, we've had a pretty soggy last year.
It's sort of...
been up a bit but it's hardly been compelling we've certainly lagged a lot of the other global stock markets through the course of the last 12 months yeah we don't quite have the AI and these sorts of companies that really support us and some of our previous golden haired companies the the CSLs and Cochlear and the others have sort of taken a bit of a bit of a haircut look I
I'm a bit worried.
I think the US equity market is well and truly fully priced and then some.
I would not be at all surprised to see some of those, you know, the magnificent seven have a bit of a magnificent sort of pullback in prices.
And that's not necessarily a crash.
I'm not really in the business of forecasting stock market or housing crashes.
They're very rare.
