I can't really see what the problem was with that.
I don't really... A, I can't remember when it changed, and B, I can't remember why it changed.
But like all these things, we're probably never going to go back to how things were, are we?
Yeah, it did.
And I bet if you go back to those days where people could spend, where people could buy for at any point within sort of 10 months of the year,
I bet there were fewer transfers per club then in terms of buying and selling than there are now.
I think the window, you know, every time a window comes around, every club's fans are saying, we need to buy six players, we need to buy eight players.
In some cases, we need to buy 15 players.
And quite often clubs then do that.
Just because they feel they should and there's a pressure too and some others are doing that.
If they're going for the title, they don't want to change too much but they want to strengthen.
If they're trying to avoid relegation, they want to freshen up, get rid of a few, bring in a few.
And I just think it's a bit of a false market really.
Probably has been one or two instances of that, hasn't there?
But not any that spring to mind.
So I'm pretty sure Pompey have never done it.
And I don't think many top teams would do it just because it kind of looks bad, doesn't it?
It looks like whatever position you're in at the start of January, it looks like you think you're okay.
You don't need to strengthen.
which maybe in some cases you don't you know I sometimes think that all this wheeling and dealing that the clubs do doesn't really affect their season as much as some think it does you know there's exceptions to that of course but
