Are they really going to survive?
Bad enough if a team finishes sixth, expecting them to survive at the higher level.
Yeah, that's a very good point.
I just think, well, you know, it's greed, isn't it, really?
They've seen a chance to stage more games and make more money.
TV have probably had their say in this as well, because they show all the play-off games, don't they?
Yeah, it's not part of your season.
It's not part of your season ticket, no.
As far as I know, it's not.
I'm pretty sure it's not.
So yeah, more money for fans to shell out.
And just the risk that if you finish third, if I was in charge of football, the team finishing third in the championship would be automatically promoted.
But you've now got to wait to see.
And I think the way it's going to work is that
There will be two Eliminator games, they call them, so 5th will play 8th, 6th will play 7th in one-off, and the two winners of that will then play... No, that's not right, is it?
Yes, that's it, yeah, the winners of those games will then play...
those who finish third and fourth in two semi-finals and you then have a playoff final so if you do finish fifth to eighth you'd have to win three playoff games to be promoted so at least they've weighted it a little bit in favour of the teams finishing third and fourth
But it's just unnecessary, I think, and I can't imagine many fans... John Massino has spoken out against it.
