I think the formerly most talented and, well, definitely most talented is Mark, my brother, who died a couple of years ago.

And I've taken on this role of the administrator of his estate now.

He lived alone.

He didn't leave a will.

There's no one to sort of take care of his affairs.

And the family gathered at a lawyer's office in Te Ao Amutu, and he said, well, we need, you know, so what do we do?

He said, well, you need an administrator, someone to look after his career, his artwork, his legacy.

And without sort of thinking, without asking anybody, I put my hand up and volunteered.

I'm the youngest of the family.

They're all older brothers and one older sister to me.

So that seemed, you know, a strange thing to do in a way that you would administrate someone.

You know, when you've got an older brother, they're your older brother for life.

You know, you look up to them no matter how old you are.

And I definitely do that with Mark.

And since his death, part of the administration has been going through his diaries and his emails.

And that's been a really profound kind of thing to experience, really.

I always loved Mark and I, you know, regarded him with awe as a painter.

But

and he was a real chatterbox and he loved talking about art, but I didn't really know and didn't comprehend how deeply he thought about his art and in what terms he was talking about.

I wish I'd sort of known more about his thinking when he was alive.
