They were going to storm the industry.
And they did for about 14 months.
So I got on to Radar, who was writing a blog three times a week at that time for stuff and probably earning, you know, jolly good whack too.
And he was, you know, a hell of a nice guy, very smart fellow, good writer.
So that seemed to be the up-and-coming thing, blogs, and I thought that would be relevant to the students.
So I asked him to come in and sort of write it.
I think like a few days before it began, before the first one kicked off, I said, can I invite people?
And they said, oh, yeah, you could fight a couple, I guess.
So I thought, who do I know in Hamilton or the Waikato?
And the only person I could think of was Joe Karam, who lived in the region.
And he said, yeah, okay, sure.
So he showed up with his missus, and he was completely baffled by why he was there and what this thing was.
But more revealingly and more thrillingly,
everybody else was baffled that Joe Caram was there.
And they were all talking about him and muttering about him and, you know, having dark thoughts and expressions about David Bain and why was this guy here?
And I thought that was a revelation.
The next one, I threw out all the people who they had invited and hand-picked people to come from around the country, essentially like 100 joke harems would come to these things.
And I was in charge of the seating, and I would always put two students at each table and choose them very sort of deliberately.
And the guests as well.
I think one session I put Bevan Chuang next to Don Brash, which I thought was a hilarious juxtaposition.
