Um, because they don't have rights until they get here.

And um so

But you're you're right, if you don't want to make it a sort of religion test, what you certainly could do is just do it by country.

Um, but also by US statute, and this is actually interesting, uh, and I've read the immigration laws, and I'm not an attorney like you, but I've read the immigration laws and I understand them, I think, quite well.

Uh, the president of the United States, any president, not just Trump, any president has basically king like powers when it comes to immigration by law, by statute.

Uh the president of the United States at any time can exclude any foreigner for any reason.

For any reason at all.

It can be for a silly, capricious reason.

I just don't like him or her, you know, I or I don't want people with red hair.

That would be legal.

Okay.

Now again, it would never be legal to do something like that against American citizens.

But uh uh when you talk to about foreigners who are abroad, once they get to the United States, by precedent they have a lot of rights.

I have problems with that, but regardless, that's right now precedent.

Um but they have essentially no rights as foreigners outside of the United States.

But is

Uh, you know, but what's reasonable, okay, it might yeah, the more reasonable than saying okay, no Muslims, might be to say nobody from these countries, which are you know majority Muslim, and that takes care of the majority of the problem.

I mean, fine, that might work.

I'm also though, too, again, I think the cleanest answer, at least for the near term, for the next several years, to me, the cleanest answer is to say we're taking a pause period.
