No, chain migration has been a disaster.
That has been the the primary method of immigration to this country since nineteen sixty-five, uh, since you know the absolutely disastrous immigration act of nineteen sixty-five that changed this country in you know very, very permanent ways.
And I would like to see the nineteen sixty-five act undone.
Now that's clearly not going to happen in the current Congress, which gets almost nothing done despite having the Republican majority and uh you know an incredibly weak speaker, unfortunately.
But that is something I think we should work toward.
But there's a lot we can do before we undo nineteen sixty five.
But you know, I mentioned my own father being an immigrant to this country.

He came in the nineteen fifties, before nineteen sixty five, when there was almost no immigration to the United States in the nineteen fifties.
It was extremely difficult.
Extremely different.
And you had to get here on merit.
There was no chain migration.
It wasn't just because you had a relative here.
You had to prove that you loved our country, that you were bringing skills that were going to be very valuable to the country, and that you were going to be self-sufficient.
