That kick change that he has refined in the last couple of years has given him a whole lot of confidence.
So when he goes out there, he really believes he's going to get it done, and more times than not, he does.
The ERA is outstanding.
Yesterday was really impressive because it seemed to me very early, and I mentioned it on the air, he really didn't have good stuff coming out of the bullpen and didn't have good stuff in the first inning.
And normally, when a younger pitcher, when a guy without a whole lot of experience goes into a ballgame and the stuff isn't good,
He usually gives up four or five runs and gets knocked out early.
That wasn't the case with Davis yesterday.
What he did was he kept getting better and eventually put together a great performance, kept the Sox in the ballgame.
Finally, they got to the bullpen and wound up winning a game that the last three years this team would have lost.
This year they're winning it, and credit Will and his staff,
with laying down a culture in spring training that doesn't allow anybody not to hustle, that makes guys have the confidence that when a bunt is in order, they're going to be able to get it down.
And I think you're seeing a ball club that's very slowly, and I say, yes, we're at the quarter pole, but very slowly they're beginning to believe that they can play with anybody.
I mean, going out to San Diego and taking two or three was pretty impressive.
Marshall, I'm not sure that anybody can really put a definitive date on his return.
But when I talked with him the last couple of days, he said to me that when he swings the bat, he doesn't feel anything, which is great.
When he runs, and he told me he was running at 95%,
He said that that's good.
He passed the last test before he goes out on the rehab.
And so what's probably going to happen is this.
They're not going to catch him three days in a row.
