Davis Martin certainly is one of those guys.
If you're looking for a reliever, Hudson is.
You look at his ERA, and it's in the low ones.
And you'd say if you need, and they certainly do need relievers, he would be one of those guys.
So this year, it's really refreshing that there's a whole lot of guys who probably qualify for it.
But I do believe, barring something unforeseen, that Davis Martin has got to go.
And what an honor it is.
I was very lucky to be able to
to go to one and start that one.
And it's a thrill of a lifetime.
I mean, I had Vince Scully go up and address both teams, and he gave the speech.
It was in Dodger Stadium, and he said, boys, you better enjoy this one to the best of your ability because in a blink of an eyelash, you go from an all-star game to an old-timers game.
And boy, was he right.
Well, one of the things, and the most gratifying part of it, and everybody looks at me like, you know, like, come on.
But the reality was nobody had thrown three perfect innings in the All-Star Game since 1968.
Nobody has done it since.
So...
That was great.
But what was better than that was walking off the mound and looking up about five or six rows up, and I brought my parents to the game.
And this was kind of, for them, gratification of all the times they spent with me, driving me to and from my practices, driving me to and from my games, making sure that I always had my uniform ready to go, all the things that it takes with a young athlete and the support system that he needs.
