He made a brave decision because at the end of the season, we were playing three centre-backs and two wing-backs.
And from that, Claudio decided to go with a flat-back four.
So he changed the personnel a little bit as well.
It worked well for Danny Simpson in particular.
And we came out of training with the reserves to go in the first team and stay in there.
Well, all the time during training of that, the lads would burn me out with this.
Nobody knew who was coming in to manage the team.
And people saying, is it Big Sam?
Who is it?
Is it Brucey?
Who's coming in?
Do you know?
And then when Claudio turned up and the first person he recognised was me and he came over and gave me a good handshake.
And the lads are all thinking, well, you knew about this.
Yeah.
And I sincerely to this day did not know.
So, yeah, it was pretty much a surprise to all of us.
Well I'd say Craig more than me he also brought in
a guy called Paolo.
I can't remember his second name, to be honest.
