I think fairly effectively to kind of move us from season one into season two. But I won't say any more than that. No. Yeah. You'll you'll hear it on at the end of at the end of episode 23 is where you'll definitely hear some of these tips, lines, calls. Again, if you're on Patreon, you will hear more of these as the story progresses throughout season one.
I'm going to run through some of the others that we had the pleasure of working with. Of course, Nikki J as Anjanette. Yep. An important character. Is Casey Krieg's girlfriend. Mm-hmm. And she plays an important role. Yep. Karen O'Brien. Yep.
who plays Hildebauer, which, you know, big thanks to Derek from... October's Children. October's Children. Derek Valen for putting us in touch with Karen because I first heard her in October's Children. I thought, oh, God, what a voice. Yeah. This is perfect. So she was one that we didn't really have to cast. I just said, this is who I want.
Yeah, we didn't cast that role. Go get her. Right. And what she brought to the table is we, Steve wrote a character who was an 80 something year old German woman. Farm woman. Farm woman in Kansas. And so we needed someone who sounded old and German. Yeah. You know, and Karen delivered. She really, really took that, really took that rolling around with it. But
We should probably talk about Ari. Ari Thrash. Plays Madison Bauer. Madison Bauer. Yeah. Yeah, her granddaughter. Yeah. Ari was another one that I feel like we were really lucky to stumble upon her. Yeah. Because as soon as I heard her voice and I heard that excitement, you know, that youthful excitement, I thought, oh, this is it. Right. Well, but she first auditioned for Selina.
Did she? Yeah, she was one of my high choices for Selina. I really liked her, but I liked her better for Madison. And so I reached back out to her and said, hey, can you audition for this role instead? Because I think you would really nail it. And she did. And again, to the point that originally Madison was likely going to be a one and done kind of character. And we will see more of Madison in season two and hopefully beyond.
Absolutely. She's so much fun. Chris Boyke was one of the last people we recorded with. He is, right. He actually plays two roles. Yeah, well, we can't talk about one of them. One we will not mention, but he does show up in the last episode. Yep. Actually shows up twice in the last episode. He's also the voice of Nathan. Crazy fan. Crazy fan. And Nathan is someone up in Nebraska who keeps seeing...
ghost cows yeah and so he wants he wants the uh the boys with uh the weird explorations podcast casey and dante to go up to nebraska and check out the ghost cows sorry crazy fan nathan we're not going to i don't know we might go to nebraska we could we should actually i i in season two i i think there might be a stop and maybe it's two stops uh so who knows
But let's talk about the last cast member we brought on board, which is our narrator. True. We have a couple others in the cast, but I don't think we actually included them in a cast announcement because the parts are so bit right now. Who am I missing? We have Susie Snowden, IFTTT.
uh suzy she's doing one of the uh voicemail that's right and we've worked with i've worked with suzy uh on october's children but we worked with suzy on station 151 yeah yeah we've i also have used uh a suzy and then a couple others like nikki and uh kira yeah for uh my day job uh uh money cook games uh we do some uh audio things here and there or a voiceover for stuff
But Susie did some great stuff for us for The Darkest Woods, in case you were familiar with that product. But anyway, so Susie's one. And then, of course, the other one that has not been announced. Again, these are all bit parts that were never part of the main scripts. These are the people calling in for the show, like Susie, Susie's character. But we also have Meredith Nudo. Incredibly funny.
yeah she's yeah she was a lot of fun to work with and um we worked with her on station 151 this most recent yeah episode she was one of the callers bigfoot gal yeah bigfoot gal yeah and so we have her kind of in a similar role right now she's calling to a tips line and saying some crazy stuff meredith you're listening uh we'll have other parts yeah i promise yeah yeah we really love what you've done for us so far and uh there will always be more yep
But, uh, onto our narrator. Narrator. Yes. That was a, uh, that was a big get. I think, um, we all throughout the intent was always that I was going to do the narrator. Um, but I am not a voice actor. I am not a narrator. I am better behind the mic than in front of it. Um, uh, I'm, and I had recorded like nine of the narrator episodes. Um, and, um,
you know, I kind of liked what I was doing and I know the stories because I wrote the narrator's stories and I knew the inflection points and the emphasis and the points to be creepy and all that, but
I just I did not think I could subject you listeners to to my voice for that length of time. It was a lot. I mean, you can hear as I speak now how often I kind of stop and start or maybe misspeak.
And I had so much more of that as part of trying to narrate. Right. It was going to be a mess. And so finally I said to Steve, you know what, let's I'm willing to throw some more money at this. Let's let's cast this and get someone who's really good at it. And we had, again, a whole bunch of responses. I can't remember, probably 40 or 50 auditions for the narrator role auditioned.
um and we we had a couple of people that were really really close but in the end we settled on eric ransom um and uh eric is just fantastic he he clearly does a lot of narration as well as voice acting he said he has 80 different voices in him i we're gonna have to test that at some point um he
really captured that that kind of sensibility that I wanted with the narrator um the the narrator's special in that uh it's not just like an audio drama sorry it's not just like a um audiobook narration kind of thing but um
He is conveying the stories most of the time in real time. Like, it's all present tense. He is conveying what he is seeing in the moment. And it will make more sense as the series goes on by season two or season three. There might be something special about all that, but...
