But they end up um, you know, they end up, he gets friendly with them, but they end up then splitting

and and forming the LVF and and he's been quite pally with them.

So when he comes out of jail and then he says he doesn't want us he doesn't want to be in the UVF anymore, they accuse him of being you know a member of the LVF.

They call him all kinds of the uh they say accuse him of all kinds of things like being a drug dealer and stuff.

So um his his basically his his life's put under threat.

And that

say what happened was it w you know he lived in Sandy Row which you know I mean there was UVF and there's UDA.

Um I I can't be specific basically what happened was there was a murder attempt.

There was a feud the feud sort of burst out and by nineteen ninety nine, two thousand um there was a you know well the L V F and UVF had a had a bit of a a a feud.

Um and uh in two thousand

Actually, a UDA member called Curtis Moorehead, somebody tried to shoot him and close to the uh Rangers Club in Sandy Row.

And uh Paul Beatty lived quite close by.

So he says he was scapegoated as the guy what he might he for doing that, and that um he was then

Um the target where a gunman burst into his house uh a few months later and uh tried to shoot him.

Actually did shoot him three times.

And he he talks about how his life was saved by his then um partner, who basically jumped on the gunman and was swinging from his arm this gunman's arms, you know, uh so the guy couldn't shoot straight, couldn't hit him, hit him three times, uh twice in the thigh with each thigh.

one in the ankle.

So we I mean he still walks with a walking stick.

He was quite badly injured, but I mean, he quite openly says if it hadn't been for his partner, you know, basically going for the gunman, he'd be dead.
