This is so many things.
But it's thinking about thinking, metacognition.
It's examining all the ways in which our thinking can go wrong.
So logical fallacies and heuristics and cognitive biases.
and all of that, and information theory, and misinformation, and all the ways in which our brains tackle how we come to beliefs, how we get, what is conspiracy thinking, how do narratives affect and ideology affect how we think, motivated reasoning, all of that.
And then the third component is media savvy.
It's the information ecosystem in which we live.
How do we get information?
How does it come to us?
How do we evaluate it?
How do we consume it?
So those three areas, I think, are the nuts and bolts of scientific skepticism.
You have to have basic level, functional level of scientific literacy.
You have to have metacognition where you're thinking about your own thinking.
And you have to have some kind of media savvy to be able to evaluate the information that you come to.
And with that, again, this is a huge hot topic, obviously.
We are constantly trying to more and more closely align what we think is true with actual reality.
Yeah, and the best news items do all of those things at the same time.
