I was, like, the last time that computer science majors had to know what a transistor was.
And trust me, I actually don't get what one is now.
It's like a triangle symbol.

But the interesting thing is those abstractions led to, okay, so now we have those abstractions.
They were basically fields that did each one of them.
Like, you spent 20 years of your career on storage, and you watched them march from tubes to drums to spinning disks to tapes and so on.
And, you know, if you did output, you watched the invention of going from a teletype to a line-oriented teletype to a terminal black and white to color to...
Vector and the whole deal.
And all of those were the fields, and they all rose in parallel.
NECS department, which came out of the map department because of the missiles, ended up being like departments made up of those things.
And then it all collapsed and produced us to the systems group.
We had the AlphaGo moment.
It was the same thing.
Like we did a podcast, not in this room, but...
But even before AlphaGo, we had, like, remember when chess was bitten in chess?
Right, we had the IBM chess thing, whatever it was.
And Frank, Chad, and I, we did this podcast about AlphaGo, and we had to try to make people understand, like, why it was a good idea.

But, like, I, of course, absolutely think that the wave that matters are apps.
