I can understand why he thought.
You think you're going into one of these theories, it's a big audience, maybe you can move some people.
But it never ever works.
I did an interview years ago with Penn Jillette, a famous magician,
famous for many, many things.
Very smart guy.
And I was talking to him and I said, you're kind of a contrarian on everything.
Why are you like that?
He goes, hold on, let me stop you for a second.
It's not a contrarian, it's a skeptic.
And I thought that was such an important way to think about it.
Contrarians constantly take the opposite side of everything.
When you're talking to someone who's really involved into deep conspiracy theory, one of the most common phrases they say is something to the effect of, well, that just proves...
And then they go back into their conspiracy theory.
It doesn't matter what the evidence is.
So if you're one of these people, especially a guy like this, who, yes, he's known because he's been around the trial and people who are obsessed with the story do know what he looks like and everything else.
But one of the things he talked about was wanting to be anonymous.
right moving to new york city where you can blend in and everybody's everybody every other person is on the on the sidewalk you know sobbing brutally about god knows what it's hard to stand out when you're going through a tough time in new york city people don't know who you are you can be swallowed up by that city to to make that decision to try to be swallowed up by the city and disappear after the worst thing that's ever going to happen to you and then come out and do 60 minutes i don't
I think those things work very well together.
So I generally watched the interview and felt a little sympathy for him.
