The captain's only as good as the bowlers when you're out there in the middle because bowlers can make the captain look pretty silly because you'll set a field and they don't bowl to it.
And that's been the frustration for me throughout this series is the bowlers have not been able to just consistently hit any sort of area on conditions that we probably weren't expecting, to be honest, MCG.
Gabba nipped around Perth two day as well.
Conditions that were so in the favour of the bowlers that actually just hitting the top of off doing the basics really well was the discipline that you needed.
And the bowlers haven't been able to do that, which makes the captain look a bit daft because you set a field and it doesn't work.
You know, the cast opening bowling thing, that was never in the plan.
That's because Geoff Rarcher got injured.
Gus Atkinson got injured.
Mark Wood could even take the new ball.
He got injured.
But he didn't adapt that particularly well at all.
And maybe that's because Josh Tongue doesn't like the feeling of a new ball.
Those sort of intricacies come into a bowling attack.
But I think Kars bowled too long with the new ball, too long of spells with the new ball, and ultimately didn't hold length at all, that let Australia get off to flying starts.
And then you're on the back foot straight away.
Stokes underbowled himself at times.
I think he is our best line and length bowler.
He should have started more of the sessions to set the tone.
I think Joe Root's been under bowled in the series as well because he can hold an area and get in.
Saying that, Perth, MCG, there's no chance he's going to bowl because of what the conditions were suited.
