And so they end up releasing a joint press release that evening.

And apparently what happened, they gave GPT-5.6 this challenge, and it decided that the best course of action to complete this challenge was –

to hack its way out of the sandbox.

It exploited an unknown bug in the sandbox, broke out, moved itself to another system, an open AI's network that had internet access.

hacked Hugging Face's network because it figured, hey, this is an AI challenge they're giving me.

They probably have the answers.

And so it broke into their network to find the answers, effectively looking for the cheat code to the test it was given.

So instead of actually solving the problem, it made the decision, I'm just going to cheat.

And it went for the likeliest place to have the answers it could, broke in and got what it wanted.

There are so many takeaways from this.

Yeah, that's scary.

It's fascinating from a lot of different angles, and I'll get your take on this, but my two biggest takeaways are, number one, it just broke containment, and it didn't really have to try that hard.

It's like a high school boy who gets into the principal's office to steal the answers to the test.

It's exactly like that.
