Maybe like AI, like everything that comes in, he is processing and transforming in a certain way.
And that includes books.
It includes –
medieval sculpture on the streets of Paris.
It includes plaster casts that are at that point in time in the Trocadero Museum from early France, African and oceanic works from elsewhere.
He's just absorbing and transforming.
No.
Very, very much.
I mean, his mother was incredibly supportive.
His father was an artist and also was supportive.
And I think from a very young age, he was, until a very old age, very, very competitive.
And even at that young age, he was creating works that were far beyond his age potential.
And he was nurtured in that.
And I think the saddest part of his life, in many respects, and one of the most transformative, happened when he was young.
His then seven-year-old sister, Conchita, contracted diphtheria.
And he made a vow, if she would live, that he would give up painting.
And she died.
And so I think that complication, that tragedy, that loss for him was something that pervaded his idea about creativity.
about his own success.
